Jessica was out shopping with her brother Richard at Diagon Alley on the weekend prior to their leaving to attend Hogwarts. Her brother gave her some money and sent her off on her own to get supplies needed for the school year. The first store she noticed was Flourish & Botts, it was a book store and she new she would need her books required for each class. She entered the stored and found shelves with books everywhere. She walked up to the front of the store where the register was called out for the owner.
"Hello, is there anyone here I'm here to buy any books required for my classes this year."
She said in a moderately loud voice so anyone in the store would hear her.

Jorden jumped slightly when someone came into the shop and yelled that she needed help getting her books. He was down on the ground behind the counter fixing the stupid drawer that had come off track. He jumped up from behind the counter almost immediately and gave her a rather short smile. "Hey there, what year are you in and what classes are you taking, hun?" Jorden, being the Muggle Studies teacher, was hoping that she was planning to take his class.

Jessica saw the shop keeper jump up behind the counter and was startled. She gave a look of surprise and smiled.
"Hi I'm Jessica and I am a first year student and I'm taking Defense Against the Dark Arts, Muggle Studies, and History of Magic. "I'm sorry if i startled you there I didn't see you behind the counter."
She said as she gave a nice warm smile.

"It's alright, you didn't know." Jorden gave her a small smile, remembering the three classes and year she had told him as he walked out from behind the counter and walked over to where the school bookish area was. "Alright, you'll need these three then,"
History of Magic, A - Bathilda Bagshot - 1 Galleon Home Life and Social Habits of British Muggles - Wilhelm Wigworthy - 1 Galleon Practical Defensive Magic and Its Use Against the Dark Arts - Unknown - 2 Galleons Total : 4 Galleons
"That'll be four galleons, is that alright with you?" Jorden asked as he found a plastic bag for her on the rack behind the counter and put the three books inside of it. "Or do you need anything else?"

She followed him to the area with the school books.
"So I didn't catch your name, are you a student here or just a shop owner?"
She asked as he got her the books she would be needing for her classes. She heard him tell her the total and thanked him.
"No that will be all , it was nice meeting you, you have a lovely store."
She said with a nice smile as she paid him 4 galleons and took her bags of book. She waved good bye and exited the store.

Jorden was glad that she at least attempted to get to know people around the wizarding world. There were stuck up purebloods in the world who wanted nothing to do with other wizards. Especially half-bloods like Jorden. Jorden gave her a weak smile. "I'm Jorden Black, former Hufflepuff and current Muggle Studies Professor and Hufflepuff Head of House at Hogwarts. I look forward to having you in my class. But I also own this shop!" He smiled again.
"Thank you Jessica, have a good afternoon. I look forward to seeing you at Hogwarts."

Richard was told by his sister that she forgot her charms book. So Richard decided he would just get it for her when he got his own. He entered the store Fourish & Botts and saw the gentleman he's noticed before but couldn't seem to remember his name. He must not really be important or must not be pureblood or I would of remembered his name for sure he thought. Richard was more like his dad in that respects, he didn't really hate those who weren't pureblood but he didn't respect them the same as he did other Pure Bloods. He walked up to the front counter knowing what he needed cause he had done this before.
"Right then shop keep I"m Richard Zashterly and I"m fourth year I need 2 sets of the charms books. 1 set of the books for History of Magic , Defense Against the Dark Arts and Muggles Studies." "Here's 6 galleons give yourself a tip and have them delivered to Zashterly Estates, oh and have a bloody nice day, ya."
He said with a kind of smug indifrence to the shop keeper as he walked out of the building.

Jorden was helping out other customers around the shop after Jessica had left, when her brother Richard walked in. He knew that they were Zashterly children, he wasn't stupid. They were children of the Minister. So, obviously even if they didn't hold any status above the rest.. which in a way they did because they were one of the only pureblood families left, the Zashterly children certainly thought they did.
Jorden asked the woman he was helping to hold on a moment as he pulled a pen and paper from his back pocket to write down the books the boy needed, taking the six galleons and pocketing that as well. He would figure up the price and get the books ready before sending them off. Somehow, he had a feeling that six wouldn't be enough, but if it wasn't, he could always owl the boy.

Jessica was about to head home when she realized she had forgot her book for her class Muggle Movies. So she went back to Flourish & Blotts waited while Jorden was helping another customer. She was brought up to realize people like her shouldn't have to wait for others below there status. Though she felt that was just a rude trait and she was trying her best to unlearn those bad traits her family had taught her. When he was done with the other customer she walked up to him and gave him a nice but feeling a little embarassed type of smile.
"I"m sorry Jorden, but me and my brother both seem to have forgotten are Muggle Movies books as well as are care of magical creatures books." "I also have a list here of some books I would like to read for fun."
She said and she gave him a nice warm kinda shy smile as she ran her hand through her hair.
"I'm sorry if my brother was rude to you, I know he often is rude to shop keepers its just the way we been brought up." "I myself believe in being nicer to people despite their social status, and I'm trying to unlearn my families nastier traditions that were passed down upon me."
She gave him another warm smile while she waited for him to get the books. She was chewing a piece of gum this time and she blew a bubble and then let it pop. She thought to herself that this Jorden guy was really nice and understanding with her so far it had seemed from her last visit.

Jorden's smile was wide as he saw Jessica walking back up to him, figuring she had forgotten to get a book, or needed to order one. "Oh, there isn't a book for Muggle Movies. If your teacher wants you to have text for it, she will provide it. The only Muggle book we carry is the one you already bought. Jorden looked down at the books she had picked up, adding them up in his head, which he had gotten good at over time. He added on two galleons for the copies of Monster Book of Monsters and then added on two galleons for the tip she had offered.

"Yes that is fine I will take all of it,, and please call me Jessica if you like." "I don't believe in titles or in formalities." She smiled at Jordan with a nice friendly smile and she took out the money to pay for her purchase including the tip she had promised him. "Your a great store owner Jordan I can't wait to talk your class." She said joyfully as she picked up the books she had bought and skipped out of the store humming a tune as she went so carefree and young in life and full of vigor.

((You're not short on money, I already had the administrators take the money from you, so you are fine. If you would still like to return the books, that is okay too.))
