“Out of the way kiddies”
The moment the students before the petite blonde girl heard that phrase, they fled the scene, just as Valeria Hewitt came zooming down the lawns on her broom. She tilted her head back and smiled at the sky. Today was the day that she got to see Blake, and she was ecstatic. Now that she was a professor, and not a lowly seventh year, it was so much easier to visit Blake, but sadly she had gone off to her parents for the holidays…. And needless to say, she was glad to be back.
Val smiled as she pulled her broom to a stop a few feet away from the door of the Gamekeepers Hut. What if he doesn‘t want to see me… She thought, biting her lower lip. Then she came to her senses and smirked. WHO WOULDN’T WANT TO SEE THIS?! She thought as she fluffed her hair, and set out down the path. She deposited her broom by the side of the house and walked up the three small steps to the door. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door, in her signature knock. [which is knockety knock knock….knock knock xD].
She raised to the balls of her feet and fell back on the heels, repeatedly as she waited. “ARE YOU SLEEPING DOLLFACE?” She said, rather loudly from her side of the door.

Blake had a feeling that he was nearing the brink of insanity. And once his activities as of late have been acknowledged, the reasoning should be obvious.
He was feeling rather lonely as of late. His lovely (and by lovely, he means 'the sexiest girl the world has ever seen'' though it didn't work as well with the sentence) girlfriend, Valeria Hewitt, had been away for the duration of the summer, causing him to be even more of a jackass than he usually was; which was saying something. And just days after Val left, Blake's best friend, Jeraud, accepted a mission for the Ministry of Magic which caused him to stay in a desert. (Blake knew that if he had been offered something like that, he'd ask the person what the hell they had smoked that morning ... and where he could get some. As a joke, of course.) The only good thing about it was that Jeraud took his pink-headed nemesis, Averie Black, away with him. The sad part was that it left Harmony Deveraux as the only person who could even remotely stand his presence.
And let's just say that listening to an already-psychotic pregnant lady whine and complain isn't exactly Blake Ryder's definition of fun.
To try and keep from throwing himself off of the High Tower, Blake decided to try and have a day in. This basically meant him laying on his bed and staring up at the ceiling, wondering why the hell he hadn't tacked a couple of Valeria's pictures up there. After about an hour of this, he dozed off. Only to be startled by the sound of somebody knocking at his freaking door. The sudden sound jolted Blake so much that he rolled onto the floor, causing his anger level to rise even more. Not only would the kids never leave his ass alone long enough to sleep (apparently they thought he was a nice Gameskeeper), but now they woke him up just when he was almost dreaming.
Those dirty beasts.
Blake could almost feel smoke coming out of his ears as he neared the door, only to be stopped by the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. The sound of his lovely (again, see definition above) girlfriend. After letting this sink in, Blake swung the door open and nearly yanked Valeria into the hut, embracing her with a nice, healthy snog. And you couldn't exactly blame him either; his girlfriend was gone for three months. After realizing the quickness of his reaction, Blake pulled back and tried his best to regain his normal stature. He ran a hand through his hair and grinned at Valeria. "Welcome back." Blake said, his grin broadening.

Val leaned against the small wall of the doors alcove. She had the odd feeling that she was being watched, and it sort of freaked her out. She looked out of the corner of her eye in time to see someone move away from the hut. Does Blake have stalkers….? She thought, her eyes narrowing. The only people who could stalk her sexy arse boyfriend was her! She clenched her fist once, twice, and then took a deep breath.
Just as she was about to give up and go back to the castle the door swung open and she was hauled into the small hut, and the embrace of Blake Ryder. Her squeak of surprise was muffled by his lips coming onto hers. Her arms twined around his neck and a smile played at her lips before he pulled away. Why did men think that greeting someone with a snog was a bad idea? She had no idea…sadly.
Val closed the door behind her and leaned on it, one leg bent back. Her pale skin stood out against the dark wood of the door, her new mini skirt, riding up a little bit. “I missed you Blake.” She said quietly, smiling broadly at him. Why bother lying right? Who wouldn’t miss such a sexy….hot….amazing…..guy. God…he looks….. She shook her head and smirked playfully at him.

Words could not describe how Blake felt. Valeria, his Valeria, was finally back where she belonged. With him. After all, they were the picture perfect couple. They were confident, beautiful, and most importantly, they loved each other. So what if Jeraud was already married? In his opinion, two people didn't need to be married to show that they love each other. Val knew how much she meant to him; she was the first woman he called back after the first date!
"I missed you too." Blake replied immediately, placing his hands in the pockets of his jeans. "In fact, I'm sure that I missed you more." He was positive that Valeria would try and fight him about it, but there was no way he could be convinced otherwise. "And you came back just in time, too." He continued, leaning up against the door with her and flashing his patented Blake Ryder Grin her way. "Between having those bloody ankle biters following me around and having to listen to Jer's wife talk about her pregnancy and how much she missed him, I was about ready to dive off the top of the bridge into the water, or something." Maybe he wouldn't have taken it to that much of an extreme, but he still was just happy that Valeria was back and brought some normality with her.

Val grinned at him and crossed her arms over her chest, tilting her head to the side, examining him. “You got all….muscley…” She said, her hand on his bicep. “I like it…” She said, kissing the spot where her hand had been. She laughed softly and scooted closer to him. “Oh I think we missed each other a lot more than we think.” She said. She arched a blonde brow at him. “In time for what?” She asked.
“Well darling you didn’t have to take this job if you didn’t want it, I just didn’t want to have to go to Hogsmeade, and then apparate into London just to see you.” She muttered. Val would have done it though, if she had had to do it. She bit her lip. “How is Deveraux? And….if you ever. EVER. Try that. I will…..well. What I would do would be worse than death.” She gave him a serious, sweet smile. Though she wasn’t joking. If he had tried to jump off the bridge…she would revive him, and kill him again.
She pushed away from the door, and grabbed his hand, lacing her fingers with his. “Bonding time!” She announced as she tugged him over to the small table. “Lunch? Are you hungry?” She asked, her eyes hopeful. Boy was she glad that she could…cook edible food., or at least semi edible.

Blake nodded his head when Valeria said that he got some muscles. "Probably from running from those damn kids." He remarked jokingly, wearing a smirk. He shrugged his shoulders when she mentioned his job. Sure, it sucks when your girlfriend has a higher position at work than you, but better her than somebody who hated most children, such as him. He didn't even know how he was going to survive subbing those two lessons for Harmony after she gives birth. The worst part was that he knew there was no way of getting out of it, because she was starting to detect his lies. "It is less of a hassle." He admitted. Gahh, how he missed the Ministry of Magic. But anything to keep his girl happy, right?
"Harmony's okay." Blake said nonchalantly, obviously not wanting to dig too far into the topic. "That is if you don't include the fact that it's even harder for her to control her emotions now-a-days. Jeraud really owes me." He finished to make Valeria happy. When Val asked if he was hungry, Blake nodded his head and followed her into the kitchen. "Yeah, I'm just not sure for what though."

Val raised an eyebrow at him. “These kids better not have boobs and be trying to steal you.” She said, putting her hands on her hips. I swear, all those little brats will be n detention if they were trying to get in his pants… She thought as she gnawed at her lower lip. Val was usually a level headed girl, but when it came to competition, or someone trying to take what was hers she gets very…..protective.
She patted his shoulder and kissed his cheek. “I‘m glad I get to see you everyday….” She said softly. “Well it‘s good to hear she‘s doing well….” She trailed off, her teeth still nibbling on her lip. “ He‘s back? ….Great….the pink haired wonders back too then..” She growled. For some reason Ave and Val had never gotten along, oddly enough. Val leaned against the tiny kitchen counter and gave him a sheepish look.
“Baby….I have something to tell you…” She muttered, glancing out the small window towards the forest. How was she going to tell him about how her mother made her take that damn pregnancy test, and then made her go to the doctor just to make sure the thing was true. Or about how she and her brother had mentioned abortion, but the doctor had said it was to late. …Babies….lovely… She thought, rubbing her hand down her face.

Blake blinked in disbelief when Valeria asked if the students following him were trying to 'get in his pants.' The way she said it just made him uncomfortable; Blake knew he had devilish good looks, but would never let them go to waste with a student. Valeria was all he needed. "Well love, I'm not that sure if they have boobs or not." He replied, trying to seem nonchalant about it. "I was too busy trying to get away from them to notice." This topic was making Blake even more uncomfortable by the moment.
"Same here." He told Val. "I'm glad that you're finally back." Blake added quickly, kissing his girlfriend on the cheek. He grinned when she made a snide comment about the person they both shared a mutual hatred for; Averie Black. "Well, look on the bright side." Blake started, still wearing a grin. "Maybe Jeraud came to his senses and left her out in the desert." If only that were the case... Then Blake would jump for joy, and there was a great possibility that he would start to act nicer. Why? Because the one person he hated the most (and the list was pretty extensive) would be gone!
Blake couldn't help but notice the lack of food being produced when Valeria stopped to try and tell him something. He didn't even notice this until a few moments later, though he didn't think too much of it. It was just a guy thing; they all liked their food and wondered what the hell is going on when the production's paused. "Okay, shoot." He said absentmindedly, his mind still reflecting on what they would be having for lunch.

Val grinned at him and shrugged. “Sorry for asking. Just, a….me thing I guess.” She muttered as she started on lunch. “I hope sandwiches are fine with you…since…. Well all you have here is bread and meat.” She said as she pulled out bread, meat, cheese, and whatever else that she could find that would make a good sandwich.
“Glad to be back.” She said, smiling brilliantly at him. “Oh love, you know Jer would never do that. Harmony‘s got him in line when it comes to her friend.” She explained with a light laugh. A light thought fluttered into Val‘s mind. A Hogwarts without Averie Black….Oh Merlin I would be amazing. No competition for her former house, and…Val would have been head of Slytherin instead of her arch enemy. “Did you know she made Head of Slytherin?” Val questioned, her tone carefully neutral.
Val sighed heavily as she turned from the counter and handed him two sandwiches on a plate. She sat down at the tiny table and put her face in her hands. “Well……It’s actually two things.” She muttered, peeking at him through the cracks in her fingers. “First of. What do you think about being a father….” She asked softly. “and Two…..You’re going to be a father.”

"Not my fault." Blake replied in a huffy tone. "I haven't been able to get out long enough to get anything else without being mobbed by kids with questions." You would think the poor children would have learned by now that Blake Ryder was definitely no Rubeus Hagrid. The only two people he was even remotely nice to on his terms were Valeria Hewitt and Jeraud Deveraux. He was only nice to Harmony now was because his best friend was dumb enough to marry the girl.
"Sadly, yes." He said, chuckling a bit at the thought of Jeraud leaving Averie in the desert last-minute. "That would be the greatest miracle of all." Blake smirked at the thought, and then quickly realized that it would be a close second. "Nah, having you is the first." He added quickly. Blake could actually be quite a romantic guy sometimes, whether he realized it or not. But his smirk quickly turned to a mix of surprise and hatred when Valeria said that Averie made Slytherin Head of House. "But HOW?" He inquired, refusing to believe that somebody as vile as Black would run the most noble house of Slytherin. "Why?! Didn't they know that you're a Slytherin alumna?"
Blake arched an eyebrow when Valeria said that she had two things to say, and even more when she asked what he thought about being a father. Honestly, he feared the thought, dreaded it even. He had no idea how he was supposed to raise children, seeing as his parents didn't even want him and his uncle didn't do much of anything with him. He was always afraid that if he had children, he would do a terrible job because of his lack of example. But before he had time to speak this thought, Valeria had confirmed his worst fear. Silence filled the room as Blake stared at her with an intense amount of disbelief in his eyes.
The first thought that ran through his head was of him walking out of the hut and never returning; never leaving any evidence of where he may go. But that thought disgusted him, because he didn't want to be the kind of father that Timothy was. Blake knew what he had to do, and that was to be a man about the situation. Man up to the fact that he was going to be some kid's dad. "Well," He finally spoke, his voice a bit raspy. "The kid's going to be the greatest thing ever. Do you know if it's a boy?" Blake didn't know what he would do with himself if he had a girl; then again, it would be yet another twisted way for somebody 'up there' to have a laugh.

“Yes blame the children Love, they’re the bane of every adults existence right?” Val asked sarcastically. Maybe telling him about the kids was a bad idea. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed heavily. Val knew Blake wasn’t the type to like kids, he didn’t even want to take the Gamekeepers job, he only had for her. Which honestly made her feel horrible because he loved his Ministry job. Am I that selfish? She thought, tilting her head for a moment. Nah.
“Now you’re just trying t flatter me.” She said, a light blush on her cheeks. She loved when Blake acted romantic, not that she didn’t love him for everything that he was. “I don’t know? She got back before I did and the Headmistress gave her the job?” She muttered grudgingly. Her eyes narrowed at the thought of an ex Gryffindor running her house. “It infuriates me…” She said coldly.
Valeria looked at him, complete and total fear in her eyes. This wasn’t in the plan. She wasn’t supposed to get pregnant, especially since she and Blake weren’t married. Not that it mattered to her, but she would want her kids to have both of their parents. She bit the inside of her cheek to keep from crying. God this just ruined their relationship didn’t it?
Well," "The kid's going to be the greatest thing ever. Do you know if it's a boy?"
That shocked Val enough that she sat up and looked at him. “Blake… You…I…” she stuttered and rubbed her knuckles into her eyes. She was still shocked that he was alright with this. “ I…uh….Haven‘t gone to the doctor… to check. I mean…..”She trailed off. “Ror and I didn‘t have time to go to the doctors appointment…” She said softly, her eyes avoiding his.

"Not every adult's existence." Blake corrected carefully, trying to choose the right words to say. "Only the ones who don't know when to shut their yaps." Kids now-a-days seemed to think that every single detail was the most fascinating thing they had ever seen. When Blake was a kid, the only time he would ever speak was to insult somebody. Not that Blake necessarily wanted to be insulted, but atleast if the kid started doing this, he would already be used to it. Averie Black was so nice, huh?
Blake obviously did not like the idea of his lovely Slytherins being led by a Gryffindor; Averie Black no less. He wasn't as mean to the Slytherin kids that followed him around, simply because of the fact that if they were in that house, there must be something good about them. "I've been here since the beginning of the summer!" Blake stated. "I don't care if it's unusual for the Gameskeeper to be Head of House; they'd be better off with me and not Pinky. Even though you'd be the best for them, Love."
"That's fine." Blake said comfortingly to Valeria, wearing a faint smile. "We'll go to Saint Mungo's in a couple of days and find out. That is, if you want to." He was still very surprised with the news that he was going to be a father. This whole situation was unorthodox because they weren't married, but Blake didn't care. Wait a minute... Blake suddenly thought. I can change that. He got up from his chair and placed a kiss on Valeria's forehead, then went into his small bedroom and reached into the stash of gifts the kids have made for him since taking this bloody job. He ripped a piece of bright green pipe cleaner off one of the paper-plate faces that were supposed to resemble him (it looked nothing like him), and started twisting it to form something that sort of looked like a ring.
"I know this all sudden," Blake started as he reentered the room, the surprise hidden behind his back. When he reached Valeria, he placed his free hand on hers. "And I know that I said that I didn't want to get married until I was a little older, but I know that I'm meant to be with you regardless. As far as I'm concerned, the surprise you gave me only sped up the process. So I decided to give you a surprise of my own." With a sheepish grin, Blake bent down on one knee and looked up at Valeria (she was only a little taller than normal because she was sitting on the counter). "I love you Val, I really do. And I know that this isn't exactly the finest piece of work, but when we go to London, I'll get you the perfect one, no matter how much it costs. I only want the best for you. Valeria Hewitt, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

“It’s completely alright….. Not that I’m happy about it.” Val muttered, “Though, you probably would be a better Head of House….Though we’re both pure blooded, sexy, and we embody the typical Slytherin attitude.” Not that she wasn’t angry about being passed up for the position, but she was somewhat okay with it due to the fact that she had life growing in her belly right at this moment. I’m going to be fat. She thought with a pained look on her face. She couldn’t imagine that at all.
“Blake…if….if you don’t want to keep the baby…it’s….fine we can put it up for adoption….” She muttered her suggestion, knowing he‘d reject it. Blake was surprising like that. She watched as he left the room, her hand on her stomach. She could almost feel it growing bigger and bigger. “…. I‘m going to look like a blimp…” She muttered as she glanced at his forgotten sandwich. She was hungry, and it was natural right? She was eating for three now.
Valeria glanced up when he reentered the room, his hands behind his back. What‘s he up to? She thought with a tilt of her pretty blonde head.
"I know this all sudden," And I know that I said that I didn't want to get married until I was a little older, but I know that I'm meant to be with you regardless. As far as I'm concerned, the surprise you gave me only sped up the process. So I decided to give you a surprise of my own."
That grin he had on his face wasn’t making her feel any better, but for some reason she was surprised when he went down on one knee. “Blake…” She said in a soft voice, knowing what was coming next. “Love, I bet whatever…..it is it‘s perfect…because you gave it to me.” She said softly, though she already knew the answer to the question he was asking…in his little round about way. “Yes Blake, I will.” She said happily as she hopped off the counter and wrapped her arms around him.
